Approximately 130 Million People in The World Are Facing Chronic Hunger

In ‘The State of Food Security and Nutrition Report in the World’ published by the UN, it is emphasized that more and more people in the world are not being fed adequately. According to the report, the number of people suffering from hunger in 2019 was 690 million.

In this report, the starving population is mostly found in Asia. Nearly 380 million people in Asia suffer from hunger. However, Africa is the fastest-growing continent for those who cannot be fed adequately. The report reveals that about 250 million people in Africa suffer from hunger.

A striking result of the UN report is related to the coronavirus outbreak. Experts consider that the pandemic could push as many as 130 million people into chronic hunger by the end of the year.
